It’s time to put yourself first

You are still in there. Kerry has spent twenty-five years helping people find their way back to themselves using her six-step framework. It starts with a free intro call that is simply a real, no-pressure conversation.

Six sentences she hears every week

01 “I don’t recognize myself anymore.” Lost the thread

Between taking care of everyone else and just surviving the last few years, you lost hold of your own thread. You know you want it back, but it’s hard to tell where to even start.

02 “I know something has to change.” Stuck

You’ve been through therapy. You’ve read the books. You can name the pattern in perfect detail, but knowing the answer hasn’t actually shifted any behavior. You need results.

03 “I’m starting over and I’m terrified.” At the edge

Whether it’s a divorce, a diagnosis, an empty nest, or starting over in a foreign country: the real heavy stuff. You don’t need theoretical advice. You need someone sitting across from you who knows what it feels like to rebuild from scratch.

04 “I’ve always put myself last.” Done with it

Caretaking and people-pleasing became the setting you run on, and you would like to find out what choosing yourself feels like before you run out of road.

05 “I want to make something.” Creative work

Whether you write, paint, or create, your work is a direct mirror of your state of mind. Kerry has spent decades working with people whose personal lives and creative work are completely inseparable.

06 “I want a life I actually chose.” On your terms

A life that belongs to you, not the version everyone else expected. Built intentionally, step by step, with a clear handle on who you truly are.

Kerry Pastine on a call, listening

Why her

She has answered all six questions on herself

Kerry started guiding clients in the late 1990s, long before it was a mainstream industry. She built a thriving Denver practice working with artists, founders, chefs, and designers, people whose working life and inner life were completely inseparable.

In 2012, she wrote Know Thyself to capture her fifteen-year framework before stepping away to pursue music full-time. She closed her practice in 2013 and spent the next several years on the road touring and painting.

Then she moved to Portugal at sixty, and Lisbon brought unexpected trials. A predatory friendship cost her and her husband deeply, both emotionally and financially. Combined with immigration stress, Kerry’s body eventually hit a wall with chronic fatigue and anxiety. Sitting alone with pen and paper, she turned her own six questions on herself to rebuild line by line.

She knows the road home because she walked it recently.

01  /  Discover

Discover your self

Uncover your starting point

Deal with the actual stress sitting on your shoulders today, rather than the story you tell yourself about it. Your feelings are giving you the exact map: you just have to stop running from them and listen.

The question

What are you struggling with right now? Write the very first thing that pops into your head without editing a single word.

02  /  Understand

Understand your self

Get to the root

Look at the self-talk behind your stress. Almost every fear you carry was picked up along the way from someone else. Once you realize whose story you’re repeating, you can stop believing it.

The question

What old story is shaping your mood today? Is there real evidence behind it, or are you just running on habit?

03  /  Accept

Accept your self

Own where you’ve been

Look at everything you’ve walked through without judgment. Skipping this step keeps you stuck in self-pity and resentment. Real peace comes when you stop fighting your past and start honoring your resilience.

The question

What is a past challenge or mistake you’re still holding against yourself, and how can you let it go today?

04  /  Nurture

Nurture your self

Tend to your garden

Your life is a garden and it needs daily tending. That doesn’t mean a spa day or a quick fix: it means the ordinary, quiet habits that keep you centered. Most of the time, simple daily maintenance takes just ten minutes.

The question

What does your body need today, what does your heart need, and where are you going to find ten quiet minutes to show up for yourself?

05  /  Be

Be your self

Bring your authentic self

Stop editing yourself to keep everyone else comfortable. Being yourself means speaking with honesty, asking for what you need, and letting people see who you really are. It takes bravery, but it’s the only way to build real connection.

The question

Where in your life today can you practice speaking your truth without apologizing for it?

06  /  Design

Design your life

Build what’s next

Everything you can visualize is within your reach once you decide you deserve it. You are the craftsman now. Focus on small, achievable goals and start creating the outcomes you actually want.

The question

What are you ready to focus on today? What is one easy, exciting step you can take right now to set your dream in motion?

It started as a journal

Before the book, there was a stack of self-help books on Kerry’s nightstand and a woman who had read every one of them. She had the vocabulary cold, codependency and toxic parents and the adult-child workbooks, and she still felt sad and helpless. One night she looked at the pile, threw the lot of it out and started writing in a journal instead, because those books kept naming her feelings while only she could say where they had come from. The journal became her compass and it has stayed one ever since.

She had been coaching since the late 1990s by then, and Know Thyself came out of Denver in 2012, six chapters built from the questions she had spent fifteen years asking clients, with the room to answer them in your own handwriting. Design your life was already the tagline over her practice, and it became the last chapter.

Then life got loud. The band went on the road and took all of her, her daughter fell seriously ill, she picked up a brush to cope with it, her mother died and the pandemic arrived. The book sat on a shelf for a decade while she kept writing in the journal anyway, because that was where she had always gone.

The framework survived because she ended up needing it herself. Between 2020 and 2025 she put her own six questions to work through the move to Lisbon, a narcissist who cost her and her husband dearly, brutal immigration, money going out the door and a body that answered with chronic fatigue and panic attacks. She came through it, by her own account, because she kept showing up for herself on paper.

The revision came out in February 2026 as Take Back Your Self. It carries the same six chapters as the 2012 edition, rewritten line by line by somebody who has now answered all of them under real pressure, and she brought it back because it is harder than ever to hear yourself now. Twenty-five years of clients stand behind every question in it.

What it actually looks like

01 The free call Twenty minutes

A real twenty minutes, and it stays a conversation. Kerry listens to where you are, and the two of you work out together whether this is a fit. Most people know inside ten minutes.

02 Intake and intention Before session one

A short form. It lets Kerry arrive prepared, and it means you arrive having already started the inquiry rather than starting it cold on the call.

03 The sessions Sixty minutes

Focused and unhurried. The six chapters are the map, but Kerry follows whatever is most alive that day, which usually turns out to be something you had barely planned to raise.

04 Between sessions The part that works

Prompts, questions and small practices carry it forward. The change happens in your week. The hour is where you go to make sense of what the week turned up.

How Kerry works

A session is an hour on video. Kerry asks the questions and you do most of the talking. The six chapters give the work an order, and she drops that order whenever you turn up with something more pressing, which is most weeks. She will say the thing she thinks is true even when it is awkward. Between sessions she sends you questions to write on.

Kerry is a life guide and a coach. She is not a licensed therapist, and this is not a substitute for professional mental health treatment. If you are in crisis, please contact a qualified mental health professional or your local emergency service.

In their own words

01 Two sessions Former 1:1 client
Within two sessions I could see my life and my relationships completely differently. Kerry gets to the thing you’ve been avoiding, gently but directly. I’ve been in therapy for years. This was different.
02 By the third Former 1:1 client
I had been in therapy for years and nothing eased my pain. By my third session with Kerry I had started to heal. Truly heal. Not manage, not cope. Heal. I don’t say that lightly.
03 A whole studio Creative director, design studio, Denver
Kerry worked with our entire design studio for a year. She changed the way we talk to each other, the way we handle conflict, and the way each of us shows up for ourselves.

Autumn 2026

The group journey

A small cohort of women, six to eight of them at most, moves through the six chapters together over six weekly sessions of ninety minutes, with a private space to talk in between. Everybody brings the book.

Kerry has always thought this work is louder in company. When you hear another woman say out loud the exact thing you have been holding back, something gives way.

The first cohort runs at a founding rate of $597, against $797 after that. The waiting list gets first refusal and keeps the founding rate.

Before you write

Q Do I need to have read the book first? The book

The six-week program includes the book and you work through it alongside the sessions. For a single session or the mentorship, turn up as you are and read it whenever you like.

Q I’ve been in therapy. How is this different? Therapy

Coaching works on a different layer. Therapy tends to go at the diagnosis and the past. Kerry goes at who you are now and what you do with that. Plenty of her clients are in therapy at the same time.

Q How do I know whether I’m a good fit? Fit

That is what the free call is for. Broadly: if you feel lost or stuck or at a crossroads, and you are willing to be honest about it, you are a good fit.

Q Are there payment plans? Money

Yes. The six-week program can be paid in three monthly installments. Kerry considers a sliding scale case by case for women in real financial hardship, so ask her directly.

Q Kerry’s focus is women over 45. Can I still work with her? Who she works with

Yes. Her focus is women in the second half of life, and the framework itself works on anybody. She works with artists, founders and makers of every gender.

Q Where do the sessions happen? Logistics

On Google Meet, from Lisbon. Kerry works with clients in the United States, the UK, Canada, Australia and across Europe, and will find a time that works in your zone.

Free · twenty minutes

Tell her where you actually are.

Or tell her you are completely lost, which is a perfectly good place to start from. It stays a conversation from start to finish. By the end of it you will both know whether working together makes sense.
